Ed from Illinois, Passenger in the Great Castles Tour of 2002
I would like to thank you (and Jaime and the rest of your group) for the amazing castles tour that Jean (my wife) and I just took to France, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, etc. Jean and I agree that this was without a doubt the best journey we've ever taken guided or not! There were so many superlatives, it's hard to pick out even a few. I never thought we'd see so much in such a short time. The castles were outstanding and the visits to the Eiffel Tower, the Beer Hall with it's entertainment, and the Marquis of Brissac were beyond mere words. Astrid, our tour guide, and Gino, our driver, deserve high ratings above and beyond whatever we can give them. They were helpful and thoughtful beyond the call of duty. I hope on our next trip with you, we have them again! Jaime was great, unfortunately he had to leave so soon. I thank you for our e-mails and calls and all the other assistance you provided along with the rest of your team. I'll follow up in a few days, but just wanted to send you a quick note that I hope cheers everyone up. Every last one of your group, here and in Europe deserve many, many thanks.
Great Castles Tour Report by Jaime
The June 2002 Great Castles Tour was a great success, and I want to thank all of those who participated. We had a fantastic group, in which everybody got along fine. I specially want to thank our wonderful tour director, Astrid Bauer and our very skillful driver Gino.
Most passengers agree that the highlight of the tour was the banquet at the castle of Brissac hosted by the Marquis of Brissac. The Marquis was very accommodating and hospitable. We started with an introductory champagne reception, followed by informal conversation with the Marquis. After the reception he personally gave us a tour of the castle showing us some of the highlights and rooms in the castle. He skillfully described the history of his family and how they changed the castle. How each of his ancestors modified the castle and their history. The banquet followed the guided tour. We were served an exquisite banquet, which imitated the menu served to Louis the XIV King of France. We finished with a stroll around the beautiful gardens before taking a group photo.
We were especially delighted to be at the castle of Brissac for the 500th anniversary and hope to return there many times in the future.
Rudy and Chris
We were so happy to see Rudy and Chris from Dallas who had gone on our August 31st 2001 Great Castles Tours. As always it was a delight to spend time with them. We all enjoyed a wonderful Mexican dinner near our offices.
