The Best Castles Tour Departs September 6

Twenty seven passengers will be going on the Best of Britain and Ireland tour. On the last day of the tour, we will visit Edinburgh Castle which is an assemblage of buildings dating from the 12 to the 20 century, reflecting its changing role as fortress, royal palace, military garrison and state prison.. The castle was a favorite royal residence until the union of the crowns 1603 On September 20th. It will be setting for a Scottish wedding, Dave and Dali, from our tour, will be getting married. The traditional sound of the bagpipe will accompany the ceremony.

Bill from Myrtle Beach wrote about Neuschwanstein:

I visited Neuschwanstein in the late 1980's after having a poster of it from my college years in the mid 1960's. It had been a fixation of mine to see this lovely example of architecture most creative geniuses. Ludwig may have well been a bit off center as far as his thoughts of economic outlay, but his dream of something to survive the ages has left a mark that will never be surpassed. The only complaint I had was that the tour was far too short to truly appreciate all that he had created. I was fortunate that I was able to visit Schloss Linderhof as well during this visit, and see further what can be wrought with no limit on a budget. It is said that his dreams nearly bankrupted Bavaria, but it is certain that the continuing visits by tourists from the entire planet have far more than returned the investment. I hope that the income generated by the tourists is put back into maintaining the castle at the level of beauty and view ability I observed during my visit. This gives an insight into the abilities of the mind to expand when the horizons are fully open.

News on the Flooding in the Czech Republic:
Jack Kenealy sent us this report from CNN Workers remove debris of a frequented touristic road leading to the Castle in Cesky Krumlov on Wednesday, Aug.14, 2002. The UNESCO-protected historical town in the southern part of the Czech Republic has been badly damaged by the recent floods, the worst that hit the country in more than a century.
We ere very lucky to see Cesky Krumlov on our Fantasy Castles Tour.
